Here's why we exist.

The story of VoltCentre didn’t start with a business plan or market analysis. It started with a ride—a ride that changed everything.

The First Ride

I don't think I'll ever forget the first time I rode an electric scooter during a trip to Seattle.

As a university student in Vancouver, my friends and I would often pile into a car and head down to Seattle for road trips. One day, we rented electric scooters to explore the city.

The plan was simple: ride for an hour, see the sights, eat some good food, and call it a day. But the moment I kicked off and felt the motor engage, everything changed. (I've never been great at sticking to plans.)

It was exhilarating—like flying just above the ground. The wind on my face, the effortless glide through the streets, the thrill of just almost keeping up with the cars—I couldn’t stop. One hour turned into two, then three.

By the time I returned the scooter, I was staring down an irresponsibly large bill—far more than what a student could reasonably afford. But every extra minute was worth it.

It felt like my Marty McFly, Back to The Future moment.

It left me thinking: Why aren’t more people feeling this?

A Healthy Gateway Drug

That ride planted the seed for what VoltCentre would become.

The more I thought about it, the more I realized how electric personal vehicles (EPVs) could be the gateway to a more sustainable future. Electric vehicles are not just cool—though they absolutely are—they’re essential for the health of our planet. If we can start small, with something as approachable as an e-scooter or e-bike, we can build momentum toward a fully electrified world.

The same way you don't attempt a marathon on your very first day of training, stepping into the electric world requires small, meaningful steps. Just as every training run builds your strength and endurance, every e-scooter ride or e-bike commute is a step toward a future powered by clean, sustainable energy.

I believe that EPVs are the perfect stepping stone.

They’re practical, fit into your daily life, and oh man, they are fun.

If we can get people hooked on the electric lifestyle through EPVs, the shift to electric first in other parts of our life—becomes a natural next step.
